Sound as Prayer: Musical Workshop with Ana Fernandez

A workshop with Ana Hernandez  April 9,  9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
$10.00 (includes lunch); register by 1/20.

Ana Hernandez is a nationally known composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and workshop facilitator, especially in the arenas of sacred music, chant, and liturgy. She will help us re-discover God with and in our voices; listen deeply and experience the ways sound touches spirit; explore sacred chant to heal ourselves and the world, learn how sound can enhance well-being; and reflect on sounds that open (and close) our hearts.

All are welcome (adults and youth) at this day of humming, toning, singing, deep listening, and seriously fun prayer as we come together to explore and celebrate nature’s most perfect instrument. If you can hum, you can come. Learn how your voice lives in your body, how to use it to generate health and healing, and how to let it help you bring your best self to all you do. Listen to yourself for a change.

Worship and music are central to Grace Episcopal Church’s identity. We would like to become even more mindful of music as spiritual practice and are delighted to extend the hospitality of Grace Church to our community and diocese for this special opportunity.

Grace Church expresses gratitude to the Christian Theological Seminary and the Lilly Endowment  for a generous National Clergy Renewal Program Grant which is underwriting this workshop.
